Down in a green and shady bed,

A modest violet grew,

Its stalk was bent, it hung its head,

As if to hide from view.

And yet it was a lovely flower,

Its colours bright and fair;

It might have graced a rosy bower,

Instead of hiding there,

Yet there it was content to bloom,

In modest tints arrayed;

And there diffused its sweet perfume,

Within the silent shade.

Then let me to the valley go,

This pretty flower to see;

That I may also learn to grow

In sweet humility.

00:00:07.300 --> 00:00:13.000
Down in a green and shady bed, A modest violet grew,

Its stalk was bent, it hung its head, As if to hide from view.

00:00:20.920 --> 00:00:26.680
And yet it was a lovely flower, Its colours bright and fair;

5
00:00:27.400 --> 00:00:32.660
It might have graced a rosy bower, Instead of hiding there,

6
00:00:33.620 --> 00:00:39.920
Yet there it was content to bloom, In modest tints arrayed;

7
00:00:40.500 --> 00:00:45.780
And there diffused its sweet perfume, Within the silent shade.

8
00:00:46.720 --> 00:00:51.840
Then let me to the valley go, This pretty flower to see;

9
00:00:52.500 --> 00:00:57.760
That I may also learn to grow In sweet humility.
